GI Joe San Diego Comic Convention 2011 exclusive Zarana Review

With SDCC starting this week I figured it would be a good time to do some reviews of past exclusive stuff, so I decided to start with a re post of my SDCC ‘11 Zarana Review. After buying the Dreadnoks Battle Set (which I will get around to re posting soon) earlier this year I started feeling like I needed the Zarana figure, a quick trip to Amazon and $60 later she was at my house. Lets take a look at Zarana

According to the File Card: Zarana is an astounding mimic and a quick study. She’s also rude, tight-fisted and generally mean. She needs only moments of observation before she can assume a subjects body language and voice characteristics down to the smallest detail. While her brother Zartan makes his impersonations work with exact physical resemblance, Zarana becomes her subject going as far as trying to think like him or her.

Zarana Is a great figure and fits right in with the rest of the Dreadnoks from the Battle Set. She has some great details on her, like the spurs on her boots and her two color wild hairstyle. The figures face in particular is great with a mean looking expression and some cool eye makeup.

Paint on my Zarana is top notch with no issues anyplace, thank god because she was pretty expensive! I especially like the metal highlights on her shoulder pads like the paint on them is wearing off, it’s a nice touch that makes this figure look really cool.

Zarana comes with 3 accessories beyond the standard issue figure stand, she’s got a knife that fits in her sheath, an assault rifle with a nasty looking bayonet on it, and some kind of garden weasel on a gun type of thing . All the accessories look good and fit in her hands well.

Articulation is standard for this line, a ball jointed head with decent movement, swivel/hinge shoulders, elbows, and ankles, swivels at the wrists, ball jointed hips and the ab joint. She is very fun to play with and I think she actually is a better example of a female Joe than the Zanya from the DBS.

Overall despite the high price I paid for her (and that’s what I get for missing out on her at SDCC time anyway) I am very happy with Zarana. She is essential to any Dreadnoks collection and if you buy her you shouldn’t be disappointed.
