Prince Algor tossed and turned in bed. His head swimming with visions of terror, and as he jumped awake covered in sweat he felt an intense urge to get out of the Castle. As he made his way down the stairs he could hear a commotion coming from Toron’s lab, and as he turned the corner he could see a thick billow of smoke coming from under the door. With a mighty kick, he knocked the heavy wooden door right off its frame only to discover a stunned Toron and King Valdar staring at him “ Al, what the hell man? What are you doing?” Toron asked him, putting the mouthpiece of the large pipe the two Slimes had been smoking out of on the table.

Algor tripped on his words “ I..I..I saw smoke coming from under the door, and it sounded like you were in great pain. I was trying to help” As he sat down in a chair Algor took in the whole situation. Toron and his Father had been smoking Willie Root out of a large hookah placed on the table between them, and before he could say anything King Valdar spoke up “My son, everything is fine we were simply reminiscing about old times, and the sounds you heard were us in hysterics over something that happened to your grandfather years ago.” with this the King stood up. “ Well Tor, I should be getting to sleep. Preparations for the Royal Feast at week’s end begin tomorrow, so a Ruler needs his beauty rest eh?” the King said with a chuckle. As he made his way out of the room he hugged his son before adding “Algor make sure you help Toron fix his door before you turn in yourself” with a wink as he made his way down the hall to the Royal Bedchamber.  As the two Slimes picked up the door and placed it back on the hinges Toron looked vexed “Al, didn’t you go to sleep a few hours ago? Whats up buddy?” he asked as he sat back down and took a slow pull off the hookah exhaling a large cloud of pink Willie Root smoke. Algor pulled up a chair and put his feet up on the table “ I can’t sleep Tor, I’m having these visions of terrible things…evil things. I gotta get out of the castle for a bit. I’m going to take a walk out on the grasslands. Maybe swing by the ruined tower, and see if Leera is around. I haven’t seen her since you guys brought me back from the Underworld.” The slime Prince said before taking a long pull off the Hookah himself.

Toron looked concerned “Al, it’s late you can’t just be wandering outside all alone. We just got back from Karnok a few days ago, can’t you just relax until morning at least?” Toron asked before adding “Of course you can’t why do I even ask? Well, if you must go at least let me go with you so I don’t toss and turn worrying about you all night” Toron took one last puff from the hookah as he stood up. Algor knew Toron wouldn’t let him go alone so he slapped his friend on the back “ Let’s go buddy, but hey…if Leera is around you’re gonna have to find someplace to go.” he said with a big smile. Toron grabbed his flask, and the two friends headed out into the night. Little did they know that the Events that transpired that night would forever change their lives…It was a quiet night on the Inari Grasslands as the slimes made their way down the road leading to the Ruined Tower Leera had made into her home. The nocturnal creatures of the planet could be heard all around going about their business as the friends talked about what had been going on recently. Algor stopped suddenly “Shhhh did you hear that?” he asked Toron as a faint hum could be heard somewhere close. Toron pointed at a nearby cluster of large rocks “Look! Over there” a blue glow could be seen emanating from behind them. Toron took the form of a large axe as Algor crept up to the rocks, and peeking over the edge he could see… A Slime? Before them stood the shimmering form of a Slime with a hood covering its head with one large eye in the middle of its face.

Before they could do anything the translucent Slime turned towards them “Ah Prince Algor, and Toron Smelg. I see you have received our mental summons Prince.” it said in a voice that echoed through both of the Slimes heads and throughout the area they stood in. Toron slipped back into his normal form as he asked “Who ARE you sir?” with seriousness in his voice. The strange slime flickered a bit as he answered “ Friend Toron, I am one of the Slime Elder Magi, and as you two have finally recovered the Slime Tablets of Creation we have summoned the Prince so he may learn of his destiny. We need the two of you to come to us post haste” With this he started chanting, and suddenly the two slimes found the world spinning out of focus around them. As the scene in front of them swirled back into view they were standing in a small clearing in front of a cave. Now there were three of the strange slimes standing before them chanting. As the chanting slowed they spoke in unison “We are the Slime Elder Magi, and it is time you learned your purpose on this planet Prince” Their voices echoed throughout the cave coming back amplified boomed all around them. Toron winced “Guys, it’s late some of us have been drinking wine for hours, can we take it down a notch please?” he grumbled as Algor chuckled. The Magi spoke normally “Yes friend, anything, now let us say what we must tell you.” still in unison, but at lower volume they were far less intimidating.

They told the two slimes how they had watched over Jalldoon since shortly after the first burst of life came to the planet. How they had been put in charge of cataloging the various magics of the world, and how they’d watched over Jalldoon during the many millennia of their lives. They said the current trouble brewing was cause for concern, and that the evils infecting the planet were creeping into the light. The Magi had felt the discovery of the Slime Tablets of Creation, and knowing the wheel of fate had finally made Prince Algor ready to shoulder his destiny they had summoned him telepathically. Algor was stunned at the breadth of information the Magi were laying on him, and the weight of it all hit him hard “Me? My destiny is to save the planet?” he asked the Magi incredulously. The three slimes shared a glance between themselves before answering “Yes Prince, you are crucial to ridding the planet of these evil beings who insist on destroying our home. Let not this fate be a burden however we believe you are more than capable of bringing peace to the planet.” The comforting tone and words of the Magi instantly soothed Algor. Toron took a long swig from his flask  “Well, if Algor must save the planet I won’t let him do it alone. I’ve watched over him since he was a wee Slime, and I’ll stay by his side until my last breath.” he said as he put his arm around Algor. The Magi chuckled in unison “Master Smelg, your expertise is a welcome addition to the defense of the planet. For now, however, it is late, and you both need rest. We shall return you to your home. Study the Tablets, and go about your business. We have much work to do and will be in contact soon friends.” with this the Magi began chanting, and as the world swirled back into view the two Slimes stood just outside the entrance to Slime City. Algor looked around “Jeez Tor, life sure has been exciting lately huh?” he asked his old friend. Toron laughed “That’s an understatement Al, but at least we never get a chance to be bored right?” as he tipped back the last of his flask. Somehow knowing ancient entities were watching over them comforted Algor, and as the two friends made their way inside he felt as if everything would be ok. Back at the Lair of The Slime Elder Magi, the three ancient Slimes spoke amongst themselves “Soon brothers, the Planet will be cleansed of the filth keeping it from greatness.” One said. Another replied “Yes brothers, Jalldoon will once again be restored to its pure state” while the third Magi chimed in “Brothers, it begins!” as a cloud sprung from the cauldron they surrounded, the Slime Elder Magi began once again chanting in unison.
